FAQ | Spiral Wound Gaskets
What is Controlled Density in Spiral Wound Gaskets?
Controlled Density is a term used in Spiral Wound gaskets to ensure optimum filler density across the windings to achieve consistent compression and excellent sealability. Typical Spiral Wound Gaskets are manufactured to a “Y” factor in the 5000 psi - 10,000 psi range. Lower “Y” factors improved performance during stress cycling.
